The Master Watershed Steward Program is seeking individuals who enjoy learning, have the desire and time to volunteer, and appreciate working with others to improve their local watershed. The Penn State Extension Watershed Steward program is offering fourteen training classes across the state in spring 2021.

The Master Watershed Steward program launched in Pennsylvania in 2013, and due to its success, there are now Master Watershed Steward programs in 17 of Pennsylvania’s counties, with almost 500 volunteers.

To become a Master Watershed Steward, volunteers must complete a minimum of 40 hours of training and fulfill 50 hours of volunteer service, with ongoing volunteer and training hours required in subsequent years. As of August 2018, there were 312 Master Watershed Stewards in 12 counties in Pennsylvania working with dozens of conservation partners.
